Aka wallpaper paste is, of course, first and foremost made for wallpapering. It is also ideal for this, but it can also be used to glue paper and make papier-mâché. The paste alone is not enough for this, you also need a lot of paper. Newspaper is ideal, for example, and the best way to proceed is as follows:
- Prepare the paper: Tear newspapers or other paper into small pieces. The smaller the pieces, the finer the texture of the papier-mâché.
- Mix the wallpaper paste: Prepare the wallpaper paste according to the instructions on the packaging.
- Soak the paper in water: Place the paper scraps in a bowl of warm water and allow them to soak until they are soft and squishy. This can take 10-30 minutes, depending on the type of paper.
- Make the paper mixture: Using your hands, knead the soaked paper scraps into a mushy mixture. Squeeze out any excess water.
- Add wallpaper paste: Mix the paper mixture with the mixed wallpaper paste. Add the paste little by little until the mixture is smooth and malleable but no longer dripping.
