The Arches watercolor pad provides you with 20 sheets of a high-quality, acid-free and aging-resistant rag paper. It is comparable to handmade papers and is produced in a traditional process on a cylinder mould machine. The cotton fibers are evenly distributed. The surface - since it is a hot-pressed watercolor paper - is compacted and smooth.
The combination of long cotton fibers and a mass sizing with natural gelatin equips the watercolor paper with resistant and dimensionally stable properties. They allow you to erase, scratch, and remove the pigments as needed when wet or dry. In addition, the gelatin fixes the colorants to the surface. This preserves both the intensity and transparency of the colors.
The paper reacts to water extremely evenly. It can absorb a lot of moisture and be exposed to it for a long time without becoming too absorbent or deforming. You can use the four-sided glued block in addition to watercolor painting for other wet techniques such as ink, gouache or acrylic.
