The Biofarben wax-based varnish is an easy to work with and water vapour permeable varnish that is water soluble. It is great for coloured or clear treatment of wood surfaces like those found on indoor furniture that only require moderate protection against the elements. Because it can be applied quickly and easily it is also a great choice for staining model making plywoods or veneers. Woods that need more protection should rather be treated with the BIOFARBEN HARD OIL, which can also be coloured if you like.

Processing: Wood surfaces can be sanded with 100- to 180-grit sandpaper before applying the wax-based varnish, the choice of which depends on the type of wood and the desired degree of penetration of the varnish. If you want to apply a coloured stain to your wood, you can add pigments (e.g. ARTIST PIGMENTS) to the wax varnish in amounts up to 30% by weight. The pigments, it should be noted, must be allowed to soak overnight in water before use. One to three coats of the varnish should then be applied with a brush. In order to attain a silky gloss finish, the varnish can be polished with a polishing brush or lint-free cloth using light pressure.
