Clou Aqua B11 wood stain intensely colours all interior softwoods and hardwoods deep down into their pores (e.g spruce, oak, ash, African limba, beech).

Processing: metal-free brushes and containers are necessary when working with liquid stains in order to prevent discolouration of the stain through oxidation of the metal.

Before applying the stain, the wood surface must be soaked so that the wood pores open up and allow the wood to take the stain evenly and deeply (this is called "popping" the grain). After the wood has dried, an intermediate sanding with 180 grit paper should be done and all dirt and dust subsequently removed. In addition, a preliminary test staining is recommended so that a colour evaluation can be made.

Now you are ready to apply the stain with a metal-free flat brush (e.g. DA VINCI STAIN BRUSH, DA VINCI CORROSIVE ACTION BRUSH). The liquid stain should be applied parallel to the wood grain and then worked into the wood across the grain. After 1 to 2 minutes any surplus stain can be displaced with a dry, clean brush. After the stain has completely dried (up to 12 hours!) the stained wood surface is ready for the next coat of lacquer, be it water-based or solvent-based (e.g. CLOU AQUA PROTECT L11 WOOD VARNISH or CLOU L1 WOOD VARNISH) - the pigments will have become  resistant to being flushed out through complete drying! Further treatment of the stained, moisture-proof wood surface can include not only lacquer or varnish but oil and wax as well.

Any tools can best be cleaned by washing them with water immediately after use!
