Stencil brushes (stippling brushes) have short, strong bristles that are cut flat (blunt) at the end so that paint or ink can be applied with a "stippling" technique within the open area of a template. That stippling technique is important because it prevents the paint from getting under the template. It is also recommended that you use rather thicker paint for this work and to applied it in multiple thin coats with a stencil brush that is as dry as possible. These brushes can also be used to make stencils with textile paint on cloth.
