We are selling table tops with melamine resin coatings for many years. The manufacturer of the table tops noticed that due to the dimensions of the melamine resin-coated starting material, recurring formats were produced that due to its small size could no longer be processed into table tops. The designer then had an idea to use these pieces in other ways. Now that they are here.

This process is somewhat similar to upcycling. Since the shelves were made from existing pieces of a certain material, there wasn't much scope when designing them. However, this also meant that no time was wasted in choosing the material. However, the difficult part was to create a new and different shelf from a material from which many other shelves already existed. The designer's goal was to create a free-standing shelf without a rear wall that could be used from both sides and was therefore versatile. Everyone is familiar with them, the chrystal clear boxes in which pinboard tacks, card games, chocolates, rubber bands or other miscellaneous bits and pieces are sold. These round magnets have any number of possible uses. As the seal is glued in, we recommend only washing the lids by hand with warm water and mild washing-up liquid. The adhesive could come loose in the dishwasher.

The screw-on lids are not resistant to all chemicals. Strong acids or solvents in particular can damage the material or impair the sealing ability.
