The Fleur paint system for rust effects offers all the necessary paints and agents to create controlled rust effects on any surface. All colors are water-based and easy to apply.
The first coat is the primer. This should be primed (with a brush) especially on non-absorbent surfaces. The primer is not absolutely necessary on absorbent grounds, as the subsequent metal paint (light or dark) usually adheres well there. As with all adhesives and paints, the surface must be clean, i.e. free of dust and grease, before application.
It is best to brush on the metal paint in two coats at intervals of about three hours. The paint contains iron pigments, so it is first dark gray before real rust appears in the paint. After another three hours, you can apply the oxidation activator to the paint with a natural sponge (dab unevenly). This application will greatly stimulate the formation of rust. Let the activator work until you like the resulting rust pattern. This is usually the case after one to two hours.
You can then prevent further oxidation by applying the "Oxidation Stop" agent as a protective coating over the entire surface of the rust that has formed using a paint roller. With a second coat of Oxidation Stop (after the first has dried), you can protect the rust layer even better.
