The Koh-i-Noor Hardtmuth 1580 graphite pencil has an ergonomic triangular shape, which results in it sitting nicely in your hand and prevents it from rolling off the table! The high quality graphite lead is encased in FSC certified wood (Forest Stewardship Council) and is great for both technical drawing as well as clear, detailed illustrations. The set contains 12 pencils in 10 different degrees of hardness: 1 each of 6H, 4H, 2H, H, F, 2B, 4B, 6B plus 2 pencils  with HB and B hardness.

It should be noted that Hartmuth pencils have been around since 1790. Joseph Hartmuth founded a pencil factory at that time which was capable of producing "artificial" pencil leads with different degrees of hardness out of clay and graphite powder (pencil leads were previously cut from expensive pieces of graphite that had to be imported from England). Hartmuth pencils received many awards and became the standard for all other pencils. The name Koh-i-Noor was also promotionally very effective - it referenced the famous Indian diamond (in Persian the name means "mountain of light").
