Stretcher frames covered with linen have been a much appreciated basis of artistic creation for centuries and quite a few famous paintings are painted on canvas. Especially for larger formats, linen fabric is the better choice over cotton fabric because it is more tear-resistant. Priming of the textile covering is basically necessary as a link between the linen and the paint application. These covered stretcher frames have a colorless transparent acrylic resin primer (triple) applied. The painting base is therefore not bright white but shows the natural hue of linen. Depending on the degree of coverage of the paint used, this hue is relevant to the artistic result and, conversely, the natural hue of linen can of course be integrated into the artistic composition. On the primed canvases you can work with all color systems and painting techniques.
