Montana Tech's Polystyrene Primer Spray seals styrofoam and polystyrene surfaces, enabling painting with solvent-based paint. The primer not only seals the surface, it also improves the adhesion, opacity and durability of subsequently applied coatings.

Before you apply the primer, it is definitely advisable to carry out a preliminary test on a non-visible area due to the different chemical compositions of polystyrene. If the substrate and the spray are compatible, you can start.

To cover the surface completely, it is advisable to apply the tech spray in several layers. If possible, keep a distance of at least 20 cm when spraying and allow the individual layers to dry for a few minutes between spraying. The rougher the substrate you are working on, the more coats are needed for a complete primer. Drying can take up to 24 hours, depending on the substrate and the environment. After about 3 hours, however, it is already possible to apply synthetic, nitro or acrylic-based paints. Here, too, a preliminary test on a non-visible area is recommended.
