With the Scraperboard, you use a suitable scraping tool (see Scraper Set below) to reveal the lighter layer under the black surface. Working from dark to light offers you attractive, expressive possibilities.
This fine English scratchbook, with its super-smooth surface, allows the precise scratching of the most delicate lines, sections, and gray values. This process results in incredibly detailed and high-contrast drawings that you can also retouch. If your subject should need to shine effectively, try the metallic backgrounds or the holographic version.
For scratching away the black layer, you don't need any more power than when drawing with a pencil. Before scratching, you can use transfer paper to transfer patterns onto the surface.
The white, ground scratchboard consists of high-quality substrate cardboard, on which several layers of the finest China tones are applied. After drying, the smooth surface is printed over in deep black.
