Wood veneers are among the finest that can currently be made from wood. Using a technique that is unique in the world, it is possible to peel the wood into wafer-thin veneers (0.08 - 0.15 mm) that are almost as thin as a sheet of paper. Due to the thinness of the veneer and the paper lamination on one side, the material acquires enormous flexibility and resistance to breakage both lengthwise and crosswise to the grain, so that it can also be processed in radii. In addition, veneer paper can be embossed, die-cut, perforated, lasered and printed by offset, digital and screen printing. For printed products, the light maple variety is more suitable than the darker varieties, as the print there is naturally lower in contrast. However, dark wood varieties can be laser printed with good contrast. For more information on printability, please refer to the PDF file below. The wood veneer paper can be written on particularly well with: PENTEL GEL INK ROLLER, STAEDTLER PIGMENT LINER, STAEDTLER TRIPLUS ROLLER. Not suitable are: FOIL MARKER, EDDING PERMANENT MARKER. For gluing, all-purpose glue (TESA, UHU), white glue (e.g. PONAL EXPRESS) or DOUBLE-SIDED GLUE TAPES or FILM are suitable. If wood veneer paper is stored, strong sunlight, humidity fluctuations and overdrying should be avoided.
Double-sided veneer paper looks like regular rotary cut veneer, but it is actually a sandwich material made of two layers of paper-thin wood veneer and three layers of paper. Its corrugation tendency is relatively low and its flexibility enormous. It can be bent in amazingly tight radii without breaking. If you carefully score the veneer layer, it can even be edged. The material is suitable for the production of exclusive packaging, jewelry and accessories, book covers, folders, individual business cards, greeting cards, as well as for model making.
