Wood veneer papers are among the finest that can currently be made from wood. Using a technique that is unique in the world, it is possible to peel the wood into wafer-thin veneers (0.08 - 0.15 mm) that are almost as thin as a sheet of paper. Due to the thinness of the veneer and the paper lamination on one side, the material acquires enormous flexibility and resistance to breakage both longitudinally and transversely to the grain, so that it can also be processed in radii. In addition, wood veneer paper can be embossed, die-cut, perforated, lasered and printed by offset, digital and screen printing. For printed products, the light maple grade is more suitable than the dark grades, as the print there is naturally lower in contrast. However, dark wood varieties can be laser printed with good contrast. For more information on printability, please refer to the PDF file below. All-purpose glue(Tesa, Uhu), white glue (e.g. Ponal Express) or double-sided adhesive tape orfoil are suitable for gluing. If veneer paper is stored, strong sunlight, fluctuations in humidity and overdrying should be avoided.
The one-sided laminated variant of veneer can be processed almost in the same way as paper or thin cardboard. For bending and folding in the direction of the grain, it is sufficient to score with the folding leg to produce a clean fold. Across the grain, you can easily score the paper with a sharp cutter to fold it precisely. The thin veneer paper is therefore suitable, for example, for making envelopes and CD covers, individual business cards, elegant greeting cards, exclusive packaging and book covers, as well as for laminating cardboard and for use in model making. Especially the veneer paper made of aromatic smelling cedar wood is also good for lining drawers and compartments in the closet, because the scent of the essential oil in the wood is said to drive away moths.
