Colorex is an intensely coloured watercolour ink for professional illustrators and draftsmen whose vibrant colour hues are satin-glossy and striation-free when dry. This highly concentrated ink can be used pure or greatly diluted with water. The white hue is opaque (good coverage) and lightens the other colours, which allows you to make delicate pastel hues. The metallic colours silver, royal gold and pale gold are also opaque and should be used undiluted. Three semi-indelible primary colours (primary yellow, magenta, cyan) and a trichromatic black are found among the 60 hues in this series - all other colour hues can be formed by mixing these four colours in various ratios. The primary colours are all perfectly balanced on the chromatic scale, which makes the art of colour mixing that much easier and inviting. Suitable painting surfaces include (watercolour) paper and paperboard up to a grammage of 180 g/m². Masking work can best be done with the PEBEO DRAWING GUM, a peelable rubber solution that can be painted over. The drying time of the ink ranges from a few minutes to a couple of hours depending on the amount of thinning and the thickness of the paper. Brushes can be cleaned with water. As with all inks, Colorex is sensitive to UV exposure. In order to prevent changes in the colour quality of your painting over time, a UV protective varnish can be used.
