The 4 x 4 x 4 mm version, on the other hand, is well used as a decorative fastener of notes on a magnet pinboard. A single magnet is easily capable of holding 5 sheets of A4 paper!

In regards to their different surfaces, the three rectangular magnets are differentiated mainly in that the zinc coated magnet is somewhat more matte and lighter coloured and its slightly rougher surface takes better to gluing than the nickel or tin coated versions.
