Pillows filled with spelt husks adapt perfectly to your body shape and support your head comfortably, even when lying on your side. The filling remains loose and breathable for a long time. This regulates moisture and excess heat so that you sweat less at night.
Spelled husks contain a lot of silica, which acts through the skin on the organs and has a calming and antispasmodic effect on muscles and nerves. A spelled pillow can therefore help you in a natural way with sleep disorders, migraines, or tension in the neck and back muscles.
If you air your spelled pillow during the day and always shake it up well, the filling will remain fluffy for a long time. Spelled husks contain bitter substances that keep bacteria and dust mites away. Nevertheless, for reasons of hygiene, you should replace the filling material after approx. 2 years. If you put the (non-washable) husks in a cushion cover with a zipper, you can take it out to wash the cover. Cleaning is even easier if you sew the husk filling into a separate bag that you can completely remove from the cover.
A pillow filled with spelled husks rustles audibly when used. Opinions are divided here: some find this acoustic property to be particularly relaxing and helpful for people having trouble falling asleep. The others are very annoyed by the rustling. So if you are sensitive to noise, you may prefer to use the "quieter" Millet shells as a filling material.
