Styrofoam is a very suitable material for decorations of all kinds. It is lightweight, you can paint and stick things onto it and its shape is easy to work with, for example with a hot wire. The only thing you should avoid is contact between polystyrene and some organic solvents such as acetone, as the polystyrene can dissolve. Because some paint or glue sprays and a number of adhesives contain such solvents, please always check their suitability for polystyrene before use and ideally carry out preliminary tests.
