HPL table top made to measure

A table top has to withstand a lot of heat and stress. That's why table tops made of hard-wearing, high-density HPL laminate are the perfect choice. The non-porous, slightly pearled surface is easy to maintain and also offers an elegant and high-quality appearance. They are available from Modulor in numerous colors or in classic black, white and grey.

HPL - what is it?

HPL - what is it?

HPL stands for High Pressure Laminate, i.e. laminate produced under high pressure. Inside the HPL table top is a multiplex or MDF board. The top surface consists of a top layer impregnated with melamine resin. Both are pressed together at high temperatures under high pressure to form a dense laminate. Very thin CPL (Continuous Pressure Laminate) is applied to the underside. This production method makes the HPL table tops so heat-resistant and robust.

Not only their durability, but also the easy-care coating make HPL table tops ideal for the kitchen, dining room and work area. With its smooth surface, the table top does not provide a breeding ground for microorganisms. In the color of your choice, the made-to-measure HPL tabletop blends perfectly into your interior. You can also add aesthetic accents with the edge and corner shapes.

One for (almost) everything

One for (almost) everything

An HPL table top is a real jack-of-all-trades. In the kitchen and as a dining table, the HPL table top proves its worth with its heat-resistant and easy-care coating. It won't mind a spilt cup of tea, and can easily cope with an evening of games with knocking and throwing dice.

In the office or conference room, a made-to-measure HPL worktop offers plenty of space and solid workmanship. Heavy monitors and accessories are no problem for it.

In addition to its practicality, the simple matt table top scores with its versatile design options. Whether straight or slanted edges, as well as angular or rounded corners, the HPL table top always makes a modern and elegant appearance.

Recommendations for the use of HPL table tops outdoors are often found on the internet. Despite their robust production under high pressure and with the help of high temperatures, this does not mean that HPL worktops are fully weather-resistant. We recommend that you only place your HPL table top indoors.

Options for your individual HPL table top

Options for your individual HPL table top

The HPL panels at Modulor are not "off the shelf", but custom-made according to your needs and preferences. This starts with the color selection, extends to the panel cores and ends with edges and corners.

The made-to-measure HPL table top is available in classic, soft and bright colors and, of course, in white, grey and black. Each color can be freely combined with the two tabletop cores. You have the choice between a birch multiplex tabletop core or an MDF tabletop core in anthracite. The color and panel core variants allow you to create light or subtle tone-in-tone combinations, as well as high-contrast effects. However, edge banding does not come into play here. So if you want to create particularly unusual accents, take a look at our linoleum table tops.

We also offer you a wide range of shape options. You can order the table top corners with a classic radius of 3 mm or even more rounded (25 mm or 50 mm). Or you can take it to the extreme with a rounded edge: The HPL top is also available in a square or circular shape. Up to a maximum size of 120 240 cm (square) or 120 cm in diameter, anything is possible! Especially in combination with a slanted edge, you can configure delicate and elegant table tops.

Bevelled edge

Bevelled edge

A straight edge is the classic. However, we also offer you the option of a beveled edge at an angle of 25°. This makes your HPL table top appear much thinner, almost floating, despite its stability: The visible edge of the table top is only approx. 8 mm thick.

The inside of the birch multiplex plywood panel appears as a further stylistic element on the edges. The panel cores glued from birch veneer show a subtle striped pattern. Due to the production process, however, there are no continuous stripes. The veneers are laid crosswise on top of each other during production, resulting in small overlaps and irregular veneer strips.

Your HPL table top with bevelled edge appears even more delicate if you combine it with strongly rounded corners with a radius of 25 mm or 50 mm. A practical side effect: you can't bump into the beautifully curved corners.

Cable passage

Cable passage

For a desk with an HPL top, we recommend a cable aperture. It ensures that your device, charging and lamp cables are routed under the desk. This avoids unsightly cable clutter on the desk and gives you more space at the same time.

Cleaning and care of your HPL table top

Cleaning and care of your HPL table top

HPL table tops are robust and easy to clean. With their melamine-coated surface, they behave exactly like the melamine versions. The best way to clean the surface is with a damp cloth and gentle cleaning agents. Although the non-porous table top is solid and resistant, scratching sponges or pot cleaners can leave marks and damage the surface of the table top. It is therefore better to avoid these.
