Tyvek is a spunbonded nonwoven made from 100% polyethylene fibers (HDPE = high density PE). The non-oriented fibers are spun and pressed together under heat, creating a remarkably tough, waterproof and extremely tear-resistant material that is significantly lighter than conventional materials of similar thickness.
Tyvek is ideal for both permanent and temporary protective solutions and creative designs where lightness and strength are equally important. As a packaging material, the soft nonwoven protects your sensitive objects even under extreme climatic conditions or can easily be processed into clothing (e.g. disposable protective clothing).
Tyvek is easy to cut with scissors or a cutter and can be punched, perforated, stapled, stapled and, last but not least, sewn. Tyvek can be laminated with self-adhesive films and other materials. Superglues are ideal for spot bonding, while contact adhesives such as PATTEX, dispersion adhesives such as PONAL and spray adhesives can also be used to achieve good results with larger-surface bonds. The following printing methods can be used for printing: letterpress, flat printing, offset printing, flexographic printing, gravure printing or screen printing. It is recommended to use printing inks with a low solvent content. In this context, it is worth noting that, unlike other PE materials, a corona treatment on Tyvek lasts for over a year.
As a pure PE product, Tyvek is easy to recycle if it is collected by type, i.e. together with other PE or PP products.
