Which Simplicol textile dye should I use?

For simple recoloring, redyeing and refreshing, we recommend textile dye intensive. For creative dyeing, textile dye expert is suitable. 

For color brilliance and durability, we recommend the liquid simplicol color fixer expert.

Clothing dyed with simplicol Textile dye expert may discolor slightly and should be washed up to a maximum of 40 °C with similar colors. Textile dye expert becomes washfast up to 40 °C with the color fixer. It binds the color more strongly to the textile. For longer-lasting, brilliant colors.

Use the color fixer in the washing machine or in the bowl.

To fix in the bowl, add one bottle of the fixer to eight liters of cold water. Place the dyed textiles in the fixer bath for 15 minutes, moving the fabric regularly. Rinse well.

Recommendation:Wash the dyed textiles with mild detergent at 40 °C maximum. If necessary, repeat the fixing process after a few washes.

iDye is a hot water dye that produces brilliant colors. iDye Poly is for synthetic fibers and comes in a dissolving packet. Alternatively, the packet can be placed in a pot of water, synthetic fabrics or items added and brought to a boil! iDye Poly is virtually the only dye that can dye polyester. In fact, it can dye almost anything. This includes plastics and nylons, buttons, frisbee discs, 3D printed objects, dolls, wigs and more.

Instructions Stove Method:

1.Fill stainless steel or enamel pot with enough warm water so that the fabric to be dyed can move freely in it. Set temperature to medium warm (about 60 degrees).

2. Add iDye packet to water and stir until completely dissolved. For a uniform color should be constant movement.

3. add previously washed and well wetted garment or fabric piece and bring everything to boil and keep boiling temperature for about half an hour to one hour and stir continuously to make the coloring uniform.

4. Turn off the stove and remove the garment or fabric from the pot. Be careful: both are hot! Gloves can prevent stains on the skin.

5. wash the dyed fabric with a mild detergent in cold water and let dry.

Manufacturer's Notes

Not all synthetic fibers are made the same. Results will vary, depending on fabrication, temperature and duration of dyeing. It is best to test first. Polyester is difficult to dye. And requires high heat to achieve a good color. Therefore, we recommend dyeing polyester only with the hearth method.

The instructions are for deep, vibrant colors. For lighter shades, dissolve the dye in a small container of hot water beforehand. Add appropriate amount of dye solution to the dye container to get the desired shade. The color becomes darker the longer the fabrics remain in the dyeing.

The small beech wood clothespins are not only good for hanging doll’s clothes after laundering. They are also often used to attach signs, close up bags or merely used in handicrafts. We carry the natural coloured and the coloured versions in two sizes. Please note that the intensity of the colours can vary, especially when comparing the larger and the smaller examples.

This is a specialized paper from the early days of photography that enabled pictures to be taken without chemicals or a dark room. Objects lain on the paper will leave behind their outline after a short exposure to light, much like a silhouette. The resulting "photo" is then developed and fixed with basic tap water. Because the coating on this recycled paper is non-toxic the solar photo paper is suitable for use by children.

Cyanotype is one of the first photographic techniques. Discovered in 1842, it is known into the 20th century as a popular low-cost method for reproducing photographs, documents, maps and plans ("blueprints"). It can also be used to record biological specimens in the field ("photograms").

Cyanotype harnesses the power of the sun and it can be used to make detailed prints of virtually any object: Tools, toys, plants, leaves, stones, sand, string, lace, etc. Simply place the object on the sensitized surface and expose it to sunlight (UV). Instead of objects, digital prints can also be used as a photographic negative, such as an inverted black and white photo inkjet print on transparent paper, to create full resolution photos on paper or fabric. Ideal for photographers, artists, graphic designers, quilters and more.

Plus, the cyanotype process is easy, forgiving, fast, magical and fun. Captures the nuance of every shadow - a fun group activity for all ages!

The kit is enough for about 50 A4 size prints or about 6 square feet of fabric. To get started, follow these steps:

• Fill bottles A and B with water. Then shake them well and wait about 24 hours to make sure that the powder has dissolved completely. If the water hardness in your area is high, we advise you to use distilled water.
• Provide dim light and mix component A with component B in a 1:1 ratio. The light-sensitive solution you get will keep for about 2 to 4 hours.
• Coat the fabric or paper you want to print on and then let it dry in a dark place. You can repeat the process for the most intense results. For textiles, there is no reason not to immerse them completely in the solution.
• Place the object or negative on your paper or fabric. If necessary, you can use needles or a glass plate to fix it. Then the whole thing goes into the sun or is otherwise exposed to UV light. The process can take up to 30 minutes depending on the intensity of the light.
• To develop your prints, all you need is a bucket of cold water. Rinse the work in it for at least 5 minutes. Do not use detergent or soap and change the water until it remains clear.
• Let the results dry on a line or paper. Oxidation will reveal the typical blue within 24 hours. Tip for those in a hurry: If you dip the prints in diluted hydrogen peroxide solution after rinsing and then rinse them again thoroughly with water, you can speed up the process.

SolarFast dyes are used to create photograms, endless photos, shadow prints and shadows on fabric and paper. It is also great for painting, dyeing, screen printing, stamping, batik and more!

Basic application:
1. apply SolarFast on fabric or paper
2. Apply motif to foil and place on fabric/paper 
3. exposure to sunlight (or UV)
4. washing ... and finished

For hard edges; use tape to create a window the size of your image. SolarFast is just thick enough to prevent bleeding - it will not creep under the masked areas and can be applied through a stencil. Remove tape before exposing it.

For brushed edges: simply brush the dye beyond the frame of the print.

An even color coating produces the best prints. SolarFast prints must be made while the dye is still wet.

SolarFast can also be applied by spray bottle or airbrush (diluted with water first) or by screen printing. (Thicken first with the SolarFast thickener).
